A speed-reading video has gone viral on YouTube, and you can get in on the challenge. It flashes a word at a time on the screen, starting at 300 words per minute — and working all the way up to 900 words per minute. There is a serious scientific idea at play here. It’s called Rapid Serial Visual Presentation, and the basic idea is that you can read a lot faster if you stop having to scan the page and “hear” the words in your mind. The video last just two-and-a-half minutes — see how long you can go.
I have always been good at reading fast but the end of the video was WAY too much for me at 900 words per minute. How about you?
