35 Year Old Mom of TWO KIDS under 6, a TV meteorologist takes her life

Watching a video that Fox 2 Detroit TV meteorologist Jessica Starr posted just 4 weeks ago, we learn she was struggling with recovery from Lasik surgery, which can have complications but is typically very treatable. Some viewers commented she wasn't wearing a wedding ring but seemed happy to talk about her two children celebrating Halloween as she talked about her recent leave from the newscast.

Whatever the reason, it doesn't change the tragic outcome. My thought is, "What can all of us to to better help people in our lives who are quietly struggling with similiar problems."  How can we tell if people are so down that they are thinking about the same choice. I don't know the answer but I know this much. There is nothing to be ashamed about in asking for help. There are people who care about you and are willing to help.

If you ever need someone to talk with - call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline on 1-800-273-8255 or text 741-741. Their lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

I posted her video to Facebook last night.

This is so tragic. Although I didn’t know Jessica personally, I’ve known staff at both stations Fox45 in Baltimore as well as Fox 2 in Detroit where I hosted a couple shows myself. This breaks my heart. She had worked on both stations.

Jessica was 35 , a mom of two young children and was obviously going through some very difficult times. I pray that her family can find a way through this. I pray that other people quietly struggling discover how many people do care and want to help.

If you, or anyone you know, is struggling with depression or feeling stressed, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline on 1-800-273-8255 or text 741-741. Their lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Fox 2 in Detroit/WJBK posted a statement on their website: " Last night we were informed of the heartbreaking news that our friend and colleague, meteorologist Jessica Starr took her life. All of us here at FOX 2 are in deep shock and cannot believe that such a wonderful, bright and intelligent individual will no longer be with us. Her family and friends will be in our thoughts and prayers in the coming days as we all deal with our grief."

This was he last Facebook post a few weeks ago.
